An interesting texture that I explored in this song is the "unison" that the alto flute and the piano has to deal with, throught the whole piece.

This piece is dedicated to Cesar Camargo Mariano, great Pianist and composer from Brasil. The basic idea of the song is the development of the first motive, that was builded by the Cesar C. Mariano way of playing. In the second part, I´s quoted a little part of "Curumí" (a song from C.C.M.) as a tribute to him.

It´s a fast song... and you have to try to keep the funny mood during the whole song, mixing the two styles (fast milonga & chorinho) enjoy it!

There are millions of versions, but with the duo FAIN MANTEGA we decided to start playing the piece "a la parrilla " (meaning improvising) In this way we played for a year, and before record our 2nd CD "Secretos en reunión" (2008) finally we set up the arrangement with the parts we most liked and we have this funny arrangement. This is very difficulty piece, but you will have much fan! Enjoy!

There are 6 studies written by Astor Piazzolla for solo flute (or solo violin). The arrangement in each of the 6 study is essentially to write a second voice to the original score written by the teacher A. Piazzolla. The flute 2 has an high technical level, in the second part takes the principal theme by some measures, but more generally in accordance with the role of accompaniment, having to keep the tempo, so that the flute 1 is likely to phrase freely.

This arrangement is very "expressivo", yet I am sorry not having a version recorded by real musicians, but at least the Finale audio guides us to know the notes that are written in the arrangement. Both flutes have many places to "phrasing" and several "solis" where the most beautiful is the filling between the two flutes, like a "soli" of bandoneon or violin in a "típical tango orchestra".

This third study is very virtuous, as in the first study, here both flutes are playing "a lot. " Personally this is one of the studies that I like most. The arrangement begins with the second flute performing a walking like a contrabass, the typical walkings that uses Piazzolla in all his music, and then starts a series of counterpoints very
funny. This study is very attractive both the Flute 1 as the Flute 2.

Like Study 2, this study also is one of the more "expressive. " It is also one of the most often played in the "universe flutist ". The second voice is raised more as a second line of support and counterpoint is not so much because the melody of the flute 1 is really beautiful, and I tried to try to prevent damage :-)
TIP: Fine tuned before to start, because the 2nd cuase some problems at the beginning .. ;-)

It´s a funny piece, with high tehcnical level for the flutes 1 & 2. In the rhythmic section (Alto Flute and Bass Flute) the interesting thing is to keep the "swing of the milonga" while the Flutes 1 & 2 are playing the rhythmic sixteens. Alto Flute and Bass Flute Don´t follow the sixteens! keep the feelling of "laying back".. and enjoy!

The interesting part of this suite are the different textures in the whole piece. In the first part "Besos" (kisses) the cello start presenting the main motive of the song, and then the clarinet the second part of that idea. Later, a conversation beetwen woodwings and strings will follow.
The piano is in the background the most of the piece.
Some changes of time signature are a bit difficult, but it has to be easy going... listen the audio example to see that these changes shoudn´t be noticed by the listener as something abrupt.

This piece was dedicated to my cousin called LUANA that at this moment she was 20 days old. And also was inspired in the Egberto Gismonti´s music, because he is one of my strong references. The piece has a little motive, is in lydian mode the most of the piece, and after the presentation of the principal motive it has a funny "canon" beetwen clarinet and cello, with the percusion playing the triangle. After, the clarinet has improvisation part in Lydian modes.

It´s a very rhythmic piece. You have two teams of homorhythmicals melodys, one is clarinet + cello playing during the most of the song in a major second of distance. he another team is piano + percusion (in this case "drum set") and the idea for the drum player was that he improvise over the piano score.
Look that when the drum set it´s making "rhythm", he is playing the reeggaetón rhythm, and the result it´s very funny.

The "intesity" of the song is related with the "Rock mood", because of that the mix in the genre. The foolk part we can recognize because of the pattern of the drums, that is in 6/8. Again in this song we have two teams, in this case the clarinet and cello have the melody, and the "base" (piano + bass + drums) should be "lock" in the groove. Also, at the end of the piece the "base" team has a rallentando very long, and the piano is the conductor of this rallentando because of his short rhythmic division. The "Solos" zone could be largest that the example in the recording (listen minute 2:00 aprox.)

It´s a song composed long time ago, and then reorchestated for the group of "The cinematic machine". Dedicated and composed in the house of my grandfathers in Del Viso (Gran Buenos Aires - Argentina) called "the city of the birds".

It´s really important to take care of the change of tempo in the second part, when the song is going to the "coda"... This part needs a lot of rehearsal... enjoy! :-)

This second part of the work integral (AMIGOS Part 1 and Part 2) begins with a solo clarinet, after that the oboe comes, then the bass clarinet, then violin and flute, and so on to a solo Cello and Piano where they begins to develop this theme in adagio movement in black notes.. Toward the end it adds up instruments based on this very special group (Drums, Bass and Guitar 7 String) and leads to a very jazzy clarinet solo over a groove in 3/4 very particular.

Lucio Mantel´s theme is originally in 3 / 4, but we decided to take a version more humorous and intimate, with vocal percussion and guitar playing going on in the manner of a "tambor chico " of the Candomble. It is quite improvise version also because both musicians, (Rossi and Gomez) has influences of jazz, Uruguayan music and improvisation.
